Dr. Brian Morris is entering his 27th year in education and his fourth year as Superintendent of Schools for Columbus Independent School District. Dr. Morris has served the students of Texas Public Schools as a Teacher/Coach, Assistant Principal, High School Principal, Executive Director of Operations, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Superintendent.
Dr. Morris earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1993. He earned his Master of Education Degree from SFASU, in 2000, and his Doctorate in Education in 2004, from Stephen F. Austin State University. In 2018, Dr. Morris was selected to participate in the Thompson Executive Leadership Institute. This prestigious national leadership academy selects only 25 superintendents from the south and southwest parts of the United States.
“My vision for our students is that we prepare our students to be successful in their chosen paths in life,” explained Dr. Morris when asked about his vision for Columbus I.S.D. He is truly a student-centered educator who strives to ensure that all decisions are made that are in the best interest of the students for whom he is responsible. He wants to build a collaborative environment where everyone has a voice. “Our goal as educators is to partner with parents and the community in order to plan for our student’s success in life”.
Dr. Morris believes that there are no shortcuts to long-term success. Success comes from Perseverance, Dedication, Sacrifice and Hard Work. This sounds simple, but those who are successful in education must persevere when things are not going as planned. They must be dedicated to the cause. Educators must sacrifice personal agendas to do what is best for students, and often, goals that we want to achieve require us to roll up our sleeves and put in good, old-fashioned hard work.
Dr. Morris wants to encourage you to contact us with any questions, concerns or ideas you may have. It is a great day to be a Cardinal.
