CISD Plans for Meals and Instruction

Beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020, any CISD student can come to the Columbus Junior High Campus to receive a lunch for that day and a breakfast for the next morning. These meals will be passed out between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. If a parent comes by to pick a meal up for their child, the child must be with the parent. These meals are prepared as a grab and go meal. At this time the district is unsure of how long we will be closed, therefore we plan on feeding our students Monday-Friday until we re-open.
Parents and students, CISD is planning a way to offer online instruction. We need to provide some training to our teachers so that this can be as seamless as possible. We anticipate beginning online instruction some time next week, if we are still out of school. Please complete the linked survey in order to determine who has internet, wi-fi and how many devices (smart phones, tablets iPads, Chromebooks, lap tops, etc.) This will help us determine where we need to focus our resources. Here is the link to the survey:
Please complete this survey by midnight on Saturday, March 21, 2020.

Parents and students, thank you for your patience during this trying time.

Press Release - Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Columbus ISD follows the guidance of national and local health officials to help protect our students and staff from all communicable diseases. The District is aware that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is monitoring an outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by the coronavirus. While there are no reports of the illness in our area, please be assured Columbus ISD school health officials closely monitor all developments and are in communication with public health agencies. CISD will adhere to all guidance provided by our school health officials in regard to protecting students and staff against the transmission of communicable diseases, including guidance regarding the coronavirus.
There is still much to be learned about 2019-nCoV. Based on current data, CDC advises that this novel coronavirus is likely spread in a similar manner to other respiratory illnesses like influenza. Given that, the best recommendations to preventing the spread of respiratory illness include the following:
• Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
• Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home when sick.
• Cover coughs and sneezes.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
We hope these recommendations will assist you in better preparing for a possible response to 2019-nCoV.
