SCHOLARSHIPS:
Those of you that have received

you that have received athletic scholarships, college/university
scholarships, scholarships awarded through your parent’s jobs,
4-H Scholarships, Fair Queen, Miss Columbus, etc. You
will not be invited to nor recognized at the Scholarship
Reception if Ms. Chester does not get this information!
FINAL TRANSCRIPTS:
For those of you that already know
where you are going to college, you need to sign up with Ms.
Chester to have your final transcript sent. Final
transcripts will not be ready until mid-June once all grades are
in and verified. Ms. Chester has a clipboard in her office for
sign-ups. If you are uncertain at this time where you may be
going, you can have it sent to multiple colleges. You may also
have a final transcript sent to your home as well. Please see
Ms. Chester if you have any problems.
PARENTS.............
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be
complete and submitted to apply for federal student aid and to
apply for most state and college aid. Applying online with
FAFSA on the Web at
www.fafsa.ed.gov
is faster and easier than using a paper FAFSA.
The
information you will need to complete the FAFSA:
-
The student's Social Security Number along with yours.
-
The student's driver's license number.
-
The student's Alien Registration Number if you are not a
U.S. citizen.
-
Your 2007 federal tax information or tax returns (including
IRS W-2 information) and the student's if applicable. If
you have not yet filed a 2007 income tax return, you can
still submit your FAFSA but you must provide income and tax
information.
-
Records of untaxed income, such as Social Security benefits,
welfare benefits (e.g., TANF), and veteran's benefits, for
yourself and the student.
-
Information on savings and investments, and business and
farm assets for yourself and the student.
Assistance needed? The financial aid office
at the college you plan to attend is a great place to start!
However, Mr. Sherrard can also assist you in the counseling
center as well. Please call for an appointment.
Note: If you or your family have unusual
circumstances (such as loss of employment), complete the
FAFSA on the Web to the extent you can, then submit the
application and consult the financial aid office at the
college you plan to attend.
Warning! Be wary of organizations that
charge a fee to submit your application or to find you money
for college. In general, the help you pay for can be obtained
for free from your college or from Federal Student Aid.
